Support African-American high school seniors in the San Francisco Bay Area with $500+ donations to support their continued education. Interested students can apply to our Dr. Vivien T. Thomas Scholarship noted below.

Scholarships awarded since our launch in 2021:

2023

5 scholarships, $8000 in total, awarded to students from Madison Park Academy, Abraham Lincoln High School, Lowell High School, Burton High School, Alameda High School

2022

5 scholarships awarded to students from Castro Valley High School, San Leandro High School, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, Philip and Sala Burton Academic High School

2021

4 scholarships awarded to students from Balboa High School, Oakland Technical High School, and Oakland High School

 

 

Dr. Vivien T. Thomas Scholarship

($500+ scholarships to African-American High School Seniors that meet requirements)

Dr. Vivien T. Thomas Scholarships will be awarded to African American students attending high school in San Francisco and Alameda counties. These scholarships are given based on a demonstrated financial need and in recognition of academic and civic achievements during the student's high school years. This is a one-year non-renewable award; a minimum of $500. Members of the Black Caucus Scholarship Committee will select semi-finalists for interviews on the basis of the General Eligibility criteria. The selection of the final scholarship recipients is based on the personal interview and oral presentation of the semi-finalists.
